Frequently asked questions

Does OweView pay my instalments?
No - and it never will. OweView is a private register of your obligations and a guardian of due dates: it reminds, calculates and shows. You pay your instalments the way you always have - at your bank - and simply record the payment in the app.
Does the app connect to my bank?
No. OweView does not retrieve your transaction history and does not require a connection to your bank.
Does the app require an Internet connection?
Not for everyday use of your financial data or for running simulations. A network connection may be needed for installation, updates, and to process a purchase or restore the Full Version through the App Store or Google Play.
Where is my data?
Only on your device. Amounts, due dates, schedules and the data used for simulations are processed locally - OweView has no backend they would be sent to.
Does OweView use analytics?
The app does not send telemetry data or information about how you use its features to OweView. The App Store, Google Play, or the operating system may independently process certain technical data under their own rules.
How much does OweView cost?
Your first obligation is free, no card required. Unlimited is a one-time £9.99 in the App Store or Google Play. No subscription.
What does Unlimited mean?
Unlimited means a one-time unlock of the Full Version without a recurring subscription. It does not mean a guarantee that the app will be developed for the user's entire lifetime, or that the purchase covers every future, separate OweView product.
Is Unlimited a subscription?
No. Continuing to use the Full Version you purchased does not carry a monthly or yearly subscription fee.
What happens when I change phones?
On the old phone: Settings → Backup → export to a file. On the new one: import the file and enter your password. The Unlimited purchase is restored with "Restore purchases" - it is tied to your store account.
I forgot my backup password. Can it be recovered?
No. The file is encrypted precisely so that nobody can read it without the password - including us. Keep the password in a password manager and make a fresh backup from time to time.
What happens to my data if I delete OweView?
Data is stored locally. Deleting the app or its data can therefore result in losing it. OweView has no copy of it on its own server and cannot recover it from there.
How are overpayments and schedules calculated?
With standard loan maths, based on the data you enter. The result does not have to match your bank's figures exactly - the bank may apply additional rules arising from your agreement, its interest-accrual method, posting dates, or rounding.
How do reminders work?
They are local notifications scheduled on your device - by default 3 days ahead and on the due date, at an hour you choose. They never pass through any server.
Does OweView give financial advice?
No. OweView shows the potential effects of the parameters you choose. You make the decision yourself.
I have a problem with how OweView works. Where do I report it?
Write to: [SUPPORT EMAIL]. Describe the problem and, if you can, include your phone model, OS version, and OweView version.
I want a refund. What do I do?
Payment is technically processed by the App Store or Google Play, so the refund process may go through the relevant store. A store refund is separate from a complaint about how OweView works and does not limit your statutory consumer rights.
